ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Aid in design, editing, production, and delivery of client materials using Adobe design software
- Develop client flyers, postcards, posters, and other communication materials for distribution
- Redesign digital materials into print materials as needed by clients
- Assist in print production
- Collaborate with internal teams on new ideas, directions, and methods to enhance client communication and engagement efforts
- Assist in the production of high-volume print and digital deliverables
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Over the course of this internship, the Graphic Design + Communications Intern will gain valuable insight into how an internal communications team functions within the Employee Benefits department. More specifically, the intern will:
- Recognize the core attributes and strategic initiatives of an internal communications department
- Participate on a creative team inside a corporate agency
- Learn how to work with clients directly, effectively, and efficiently while using their brand standards
- Gain on-the-job experience with common marketing tools and software
The intern will also be assigned a capstone project to complete within the timeframe of the internship. The topic of the project will be chosen from a list of topics applicable to communications or graphic design. The topics may also pertain to the insurance industry, communication best practices, audience development and competitive research, to name a few. The project will culminate with a presentation made to members of the Communications team, members of the Employee Benefits department, as well as key leadership personnel.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and with others; prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Proficient with the Adobe Creative Cloud. Scale for each product:
- InDesign: 4.5/5
- Photoshop: 3/5
- Illustrator: 2/5
- Premier Pro: 1/5
REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
Recently completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field of study (e.g., Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, etc.)
