Our Risk Management + Commercial Insurance department is an innovative team dedicated to helping our clients optimize their risk profile by implementing short and long-term solutions through Analytics, Risk Services, Risk Transfer, Claims Consulting and Client Advocacy.

MJ is looking for an ambitious self-starter to assist in a variety of evolving data and analytics initiatives within our Risk Management + Commercial Insurance department. The Analytics intern will assist in driving new solutions regarding how we collect, evaluate and analyze data to make tactical and strategic recommendations around business issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Work closely with analytics team to create innovative solutions that involve uncertain data and ambiguous business challenges
  • Gather data from various sources to assess client exposure and predict future risk
  • Transform and normalize data so it can be effectively indexed and queried
  • Map loss and exposure information to identify cause and location of loss for the client
  • Develop and leverage actionable analyses to support key company initiatives
  • Work with internal customers and team members on business problems, and help identify new opportunities through research and analysis
  • Extrapolate and interpret data, perform statistical analysis, prepare forecasting and trending reports, including the development of professional-level graphs and charts
  • Utilize modeling techniques and statistical analysis to recognize trends and patterns in data, draw meaningful conclusions and develop actionable analyses that drive business decisions
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft products
  • Experience with data mining, analytics and visualization tools are a plus, not required (SQL, R, SAS, Power BI, Tableau, ETL, etc.)
REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field of study (e.g., Analytics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Risk Management, Finance, Business, etc.)
