MJ Insurance Intern Awarded Notable Scholarship by the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers

INDIANAPOLIS (September 5, 2022) – Julia Patras, learning & development summer intern at MJ Insurance, a leading risk management and employee benefits agency for more than 50 years, was recently awarded a $5,000 scholarship for the 2022-23 academic year by the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers.

The scholarship, funded by Assurex Global Ashlock Game Changer Scholarship and paid through the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers’ foundation, will go toward Patras’ senior year at Depauw University, where she will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

During her internship, Patras assisted with documenting department process and building e-learning modules for associate onboarding. She also worked with Human Resources on employee relation matters such as exit interviews.

“We had the largest summer internship class so far, with amazing talent functioning in many different departments throughout the enterprise,” said Jon Loftin, President + COO of MJ Insurance. “Julia’s work was invaluable, and her capstone project was especially impressive. Her final presentation applied her psychology studies to expound on the importance of leadership, measuring and developing emotional intelligence for business success. Her recommendations as to how we can further support our leaders and associates in developing this skillset will be utilized for many years to come.”

Patras is one of 75 college students across the country who received a Council Foundation scholarship this year.

The Council Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable educational organization instituted by the Washington, D.C.-based Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers.
