PHOENIX (June 23, 2022) – MJ Insurance, a leading risk management and employee benefits agency for more than 50 years, was recognized recently by the Healthy Arizona Worksite Program as achieving the Gold level of excellence in worksite wellness.
The Healthy Arizona Worksite Award recognizes employers that are making efforts to positively affect the health and wellbeing of their employees, their families and their community by implementing comprehensive worksite wellness strategies.
The minimum qualifications to be considered for this award include attending the Healthy Arizona Worksite Program training and developing a plan to improve employee health and safety. To qualify for the Silver and Gold levels of the award, employers need to support employee health through policy and systems changes.
“Receiving this recognition is a great honor,” said Michael H. Bill, CEO of MJ. “We practice what we preach, and we are proud to set an example of workplace wellness for our partners and clients. MJ takes a data-driven approach to design programs intended to increase employee morale, establish a proactive organizational culture and reduce our client’s overall healthcare expenses.”
MJ’s recognition-worthy employee wellbeing policy and programming includes incentive tracking with Marathon Health’s Wellness Platform, a leading clinic provider offering network and virtual models leading to better outcomes and employee health, and statistical analysis with Marathon Health’s Biometric Screening Program.
Still, MJ goes further, creating a culture of encouragement and support for employees. MJ hosts walking groups, stocks healthy snacks in the kitchen and offers onsite lunch & learns, where employees learn about a variety of wellness topics while lunching on healthy food and beverages.
“Since employees spend nearly half of their waking hours at work, the workplace represents an important setting for promoting healthy behaviors,” said Andy Vetor, Chief Growth Officer. “The cost of poor health is substantial, not only the direct cost of medical care and prescription drugs, but also the expense of lost productivity and absenteeism. While results at each organization can vary, some employers have realized up to a $6 return for every $1 invested in wellness programs.”
Several MJ clients were recognized at the virtual awards ceremony as well, including Arizona’s Children Association, Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center and Micro-Tronics.
The Healthy Arizona Worksites Program is a public health initiative offered by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH). Its mission is to help employers learn how to successfully implement worksite wellness initiatives to improve the health of their employees and businesses.
