WHY DENVER?

MJ SETTLES INTO ITS NEWEST OFFICE IN THE MILE HIGH CITY

When evaluating new locations for expansion, there were many reasons Denver stood out as the ideal city for MJ’s newest office. We spent significant time considering different spots and even uncovered some fun facts along the way.

Did you know the first permanent structure in Denver was actually a saloon? Or that the city hosts the largest annual stock show in the world? How about that a golf ball goes about 10% further in the thin mountain air? Tee time anyone?

You can also see 200 named mountain peaks from Denver, with 32 being 13,000 feet or taller. Throw in the fact that Denver has about 300 sunny days a year, and the attraction seems clear.

But for MJ, there were some other impressive reasons we were drawn to Colorado, and it was all based on data.

We’ve already seen the power of data-driven decisions using APERTURE®, our proprietary analytics tool that combines multiple data sources to fuel better client strategies, and we applied the same disciplined approach to this project. Among the positive stats for Denver are 4% projected annual population growth and it’s rank as the #2 U.S. city for fastest labor force growth.

As we whittled down our list of potential locations, we then layered in leadership options for each market. That’s what ultimately clinched the deal for Denver.

We’re beyond thrilled to have long-time Denver resident and industry veteran, Courtney Hutchison, as MJ’s new market president of Colorado. She’s a strong, proven leader, and we’re sold on her assertion that “Denver is ready for a new way of working with clients and carriers.”

In addition to her credentials—over 20 years in the industry, a bachelor’s from Miami University of Ohio, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation and post graduate course work in Organizational Leadership from Harvard Business School and Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management—she’s also a fit with MJ’s culture. She’s dedicated to team development and is committed to creating an environment that fosters creativity without barriers or bureaucracy. A leader both professionally and personally, Courtney is also an active volunteer in the Denver community, the current Board Chair of the American Lung Association in Colorado and a 2018 Denver Business Journal “40 Under 40” award winner.

Since the Gold Rush days, Colorado has been a place for visionaries, and we believe it’s now the right place for MJ’s continued growth under Courtney’s lead. If you’re ever in the Denver area, we’d love to show you around. Of course, we’re always happy to talk more about our capabilities anytime, so feel free to reach out to our Colorado team directly at (720) 354-3861 too.
