
As Insurance Careers Month comes to a close, let’s revisit the motivation behind everything we do here at MJ—-our Purpose:

Notice that our associates and their families are listed first in our Purpose statement – and that’s 100% intentional. We know that happy people make happy employees, which is why MJ actively invests in our people to ensure their success, fulfillment and wellbeing.
Because in order to be the best insurance agency, we’ve got to have the best people. And having the best people means investing in a team that’s constantly trying to become smarter, stronger and better—not just at work, but at home, too.
So how do we accomplish this? When it comes to helping our people be at their best, we implement several strategies to support and encourage every member of the MJ Team.
One way is by providing development opportunities through MJ YOUniversity, which offers paths for growth and advancement in areas of personal and professional development (many of which were outlined in last week’s Insurance Careers Month blog). We want to encourage and empower our associates to not only succeed within their current role at MJ, but also grow and advance to become the best version of themselves at work, at home and in their everyday lives.
Our associates are also inspired by our monthly Core Value Champion. Every month, our associates have the chance to nominate a colleague for this honor as they are encouraged to identify people who exemplify our Core Values. The nominations are reviewed by peers and selected by our executive leadership team. The winner is announced and celebrated during our monthly all-company meeting.
This practice of recognizing and celebrating one another’s strengths cultivates a culture of inspiration and commends those Core Value Champions to continue on that path of excellence, while encouraging others to embody our Core Values, both inside and outside the office.
MJ’s commitment to learning and development is another integral part of inspiring our associates to be at their best. As MJ aims to become the premiere people development firm in our industry, this focus enables MJ to attract and retain top talent—not only from the insurance industry, but many other industries such as software, technology and consulting. Offering an array of development opportunities strengthens our employer brand while empowering our associates to grow and advance, both on a personal and professional level.
MJ also provides tools and resources to help strengthen the wellbeing of our associates. Adapting to a hybrid work model has made MJ a nimbler and more flexible workplace where our people feel valued and supported. Resources such as our Wellness Program—A Healthier YOU—24/7 telemedicine access and Employee Assistance Program are just a few methods we utilize to improve our associates’ holistic wellbeing.
As you can see, our Purpose is at the core of everything we do—and it starts with our people. It’s the driving force behind our investment in our people and how we aim to inspire their success, fulfillment and wellbeing.
