Now more than ever, it’s imperative for employers to provide support for their employees. And in this climate of the Great Resignation, it’s critical for companies to explore and implement strategies to improve the happiness and health of their people.

At MJ, we believe our people are our greatest asset. We’ve implemented multiple strategies designed to care for our associates’ health, wellbeing and professional development while also providing a flexible work environment. Read on to learn more about three ways we invest in our greatest asset.

At MJ, the health and wellbeing of our associates is our top priority. We take a holistic approach to all aspects of wellbeing for our associates—including physical, mental and financial—these strategies are designed to equip our people to be at their best in every area of life:

  • All MJ associates have access to an employee health clinic with access to primary care physicians and over 100 free generic medications and lab work.
  • Peace of mind through MJ’s partnership with Allstate Identity Protection. Not only are MJ associates covered for identity theft protection, MJ also pays for household family members to have this benefit. Allstate monitors the dark web, financial activity, lost wallet protection plus much more.
  • Employee Assistance Program: a few key features include 24/7 access to a free telemedicine benefit, confidential counseling, legal support and access to certified financial planners.

In the fall of 2018, MJ launched our first ever hybrid work model. We implemented a policy of working remotely up to two days a week. Although the process involved multiple hybrid testing models and lots of trial and error, we witnessed the MJ team adapt in amazing ways. Our associates began to believe that it was not only possible to work remotely, but they can work well and efficiently in a remote environment. Here are a few examples of how MJ promotes a flexible work environment outside of remote work options:

  • Implementing a hybrid work environment: associates may work remotely up to 2 days a week, with some work exceptions
  • Providing a hybrid work stipend of up to $500 per associate for home office setup expenses
  • Summer hours: allows for alternate Friday afternoons off work, while receiving a full day’s pay
  • Volunteer time off: paid time to give back and serve community or a charity of choice

Part of the investment in the holistic wellbeing of our associates also includes opportunities for professional development. MJ makes a significant investment in the development of our people. Not only do we prioritize professional career development, but we also provide tools and resources to aid in personal development:

  • Mentoring through MJ Connect: MJ’s internal mentoring program designed to help guide individual growth, share intellectual wisdom and foster a culture of collaboration.
  • Internship program: an experiential learning program designed to give interns real-world professional experience as an integral part of the MJ Team
  • Personal development plan (PDP): every MJ associate participates in a PDP to aid in their development in aspects of their personal goals and development, unrelated to work
  • Career pathing + talent review: processes to help understand and created paths for our associates’ desires in knowledge, growth and advancement
  • Leadership training for all levels of the organization through on-demand learning, TrueU programs and the Ken Blanchard Companies LENS Leadership program.

We believe there’s more to life than your day job. At MJ, we consider each of our associates as unique individuals with skills, talents and goals of their own. And these are just a few of the ways MJ supports the wellbeing of our people.
