OSHA Final Rule for Work in Confined Spaces in Construction

The Construction Confined Space Standard has been in the works for several years now and was finally published as a final rule on May 4, 2015 with an effective date of August 3, 2015. The final rule mirrors provisions of the work in confined spaces rule for the general industry and will not be fully enforced until October 2, 2015. OSHA estimates full compliance will reduce fatalities and injuries for confined space work in the construction industry by 96 percent. INSAFE notes that IOSHA will begin enforcement of the new standard 60 days after Federal enforcement is scheduled to begin.
