INDIANAPOLIS (April 29, 2014) – Delta Gamma Fraternity is proud to announce that Cindy Stellhorn, Executive Vice-President of MJ Insurance, Sorority Division, has been awarded the Delta Gamma Compass Award.
The Compass Award is given to a non-member of Delta Gamma Fraternity who, through his/her extraordinary leadership and service, has made a lasting and deeply significant contribution to the Fraternity and/or the interfraternal movement. The award may be given to recognize a single “life changing” achievement, or it may commemorate a “lifetime” of important achievements. Recipients of this award display fraternally-focused leadership on an elite scale.
Stellhorn was nominated for this honor by Fraternity President Laurie Petrucce Roselle, Beta lota-Purdue, who says it is her commitment to all National Panhellenic Conference groups, not just her clients, that makes her stand out.
“She created the MJ Housing seminar which is held yearly and MJ, via her suggestion, financially supports many Greek events and events sponsored by the National Panhellenic Conference,” Roselle stated in her nomination.
Stellhorn is a graduate of Indiana University and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. During college, she was actively involved and held several officer positions within her chapter. She is a supporter of the Circle of Sisterhood, an organization devoted to bringing educational opportunities to women and she is the first two-term president of the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee (PAC).
“She has managed the PAC with dignity that has been recognized by many of the Congressional members and has single-handedly raised massive amounts of money to support the PAC effort,” Roselle explained.
For Stellhorn, it’s all about bringing out the best in others. “Attitude and example are so important,” Stellhorn writes in her company biography. “There must be pride in our department, pride in our people, pride in being a part of this company and pride in the solutions and services we provide to our clients/partners.”
Roselle says that professionalism takes Stellhorn’s work to the highest level. “She serves ALL Greek entities, not just her clients and the work she does for the North American Interfraternal Foundation has been recognized as groundbreaking,” she said.
