PHOENIX (Jan. 21, 2014) – MJ Insurance, one of the nation’s leading property-casualty and employee benefits agencies, has long believed in serving the communities where it operates and this commitment led to an Arizona nonprofit, Arizona Call-Al-Teen Youth Resources, Inc. (ACYR), to receive a $1,000 award from a national nonprofit that connects businesses with local nonprofits.
ACYR is a nonprofit organization that unites young people with business and personal mentors who help Arizona teens find success in life and business. At MJ Insurance, the teens – GED and charter school students – participate in job shadowing, career mentoring and tutoring. MJ employees also hosted a professional clothing drive for ACYR participants to have professional attire for job interviews and while job shadowing. Recently, the Phoenix office of MJ submitted an online video of its work with ACYR to the Super Service Challenge supported by Companies With A Mission, a national organization who distributed $1 million to nonprofits across the U.S. in early 2014.
In addition, members of ACYR have the opportunity to intern at MJ Insurance where they learn about employee benefits, health care reform and are able to hone their computer skills.
