INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 27, 2011) – MJ Insurance, a leading property-casualty and employee benefit agency, today announced its eighth consecutive year of retaining its status as part of the elite group of U.S. independent insurance agencies. MJ Insurance participated in The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America’s (Big “I”) annual “Best Practices Study” and was then recognized as a “Best Practices Agency.”
Last year, which marked the start of a new three-year study cycle, more than 1,200 independent agencies throughout the U.S. were nominated to take part in the annual study, but only 224 agencies qualified for the honor. To be chosen, MJ Insurance had to be among the 35 to 40 top-performing agencies in one of six revenue categories. MJ was included in the $10 to $25 million revenue category.
“The Best Practices Agency recognition a prestigious award and we are honored to earn it on an annual basis,” said MJ Insurance CEO Michael H. Bill. “This accolade reflects MJ’s outstanding employees and our continued efforts for superior client service. We are pleased with the performance we provide and proud to be recognized by our industry peers as a leading independent insurance agency in the U.S.”
The Best Practices Study was initiated by IIABA in 1993 as the foundation for efforts to improve agency performance. This annual survey and study of leading independent insurance agencies documents the business practices of the “best” agencies and urges others to adopt similar practices. Inclusion in the study has become a highly sought after industry recognition.
Each year since 1993, IIABA and Reagan Consulting, an Atlanta-based management consulting firm, join forces to study the country’s leading agencies in six revenue categories. The agencies comprising the study groups are selected every third year through a comprehensive nomination and qualifying process and awarded a “Best Practices Agency” designation. The selected “Best Practices” agencies retain their status during the three-year cycle by submitting extensive financial and operational data for review each year.
